How Does Music Affect Teenage Lives

Music is something that every person has his or her own specific opinion about. Different people have different taste, and various types of music have many ways of leaving an impact on someone. It can be relaxing, angering, soothing, energizing, and many more.
Music sends out either good or bad messages that have big impacts on how teenagers act. Teens usually become friends with others who have a same taste in music as the rest of the people they hangout with, or it can be vice versa. Teens may not want to associate with people who have different tastes in music because they’ll argue about what they think is better but its just their own opinions.
Teenagers can use music to express themselves in ways it can’t be expressed through behavior, or art. You can usually tell how someone’s feeling by the type of music he or she is listening to at the time. Music can sometimes help teens through rough break ups, depression and more. Music is very important to us teenagers.

How Does Music Affect Teenage Lives: Student Interviews

Maunice: "It defines my mood"

Crystal: "Without music i'll go crazy , music is my life". "I don't even watch tv".

Misha: "Music makes me feel good, especially when I'm on the toilet". "It defines my mood and makes me feel calm and relaxed or hype.

Jaime: "Music helps me get through my day depending on my mood depend on what kind of music I listen to".

I feel that music has a HUGE impact on teenage lives and my life. I can't go a day without listening to music. I listen to it at school, on the school bus and city bus, when I'm walking places, while I'm in the shower, while I'm doing my homework, when I'm in the car. Music plays a huge part in my life. It allows me to block out people when i'm having a bad day and don't want to be bothered. Music is my bestfriend , it makes me smile, cry, laugh, angry, happy and sad. Music is a part of me that I can't live without!

The New Haven Register Story: Lanecia Peeler

According to news channel 8 the Hartford Currant WNTH and the New Haven Independent. The New Haven register is closing its Long Wharf facility and looking to relocate and restructure its news to an open office combination coffee shop. I think that this is a good idea and this can be a good thing for the people in new haven people. I think that the bad thing about this is the 100 layoffs that is happening because now theirs 100 people without a job and that’s not good because it’s adding on to the people without jobs and to the unemployment rates. I think the teens of new haven would even like this because they have allot they want to say and get off their minds. My grandmother also said when we watched it on the news(channel8) we were discussing how people depend on the news paper. My Nana said she thinks pretty soon everything is going to be on the Internet and not on paper anymore. A student at Metropolitan  Mesha Bryant  said she doesn’t really care about the new Haven Register or the News paper because she watches the news and goes on the Internet, but she thinks it’s a good idea their including the people of new haven in their paper now. A student at Metropolitan Jasmine Wooten said she thinks it’s a good idea that they move downtown so people can put ideas that New Haven citizens have in the paper. My teacher Mr. Monahan also thinks that it’s a good idea that the New Haven Register is moving downtown New Haven and he thinks it is good for the teens to give their opinions about the world.

Death Penalty

I think the U.S. government should stop the death penalty because its inhumane, unconstitutional and it really dosen't punish the person the way you want. Think about it when people do evil things and get the death penalty they get the punishment once and they never have to go through anything anymore, but if you put them in jail for life they get raped, jumped, wounded (sometimes severly wounded) no good food, and mistreatment. Being in jail is a living hell. Just imagine you have the option death penalty or jail for life......but before you pick jail realize that death penalty is a one time punishment and you never have to go through anything anymore. So think about it like this death penalty might be the revenge you want, but in reality its not because you punish them once. Criminals want the death penalty because they think about it like this and its an easy way out even though it ends in death. Most normal people say " I would rather go to jail because I don't want to die" they understand from a criminals point of view. Would you want to live knowing you did an evil crime like kill somone? Would you want to live in a world where everyone hates you and people are plotting to get you? Thats why im against the death penalty because its criminals easy way out.....its a get away. Its not fair when criminals get there way. They need to be punished and put in jail. So end the death penalty and lock people up so they can get the punishment they deserve and dont want. The United States of America is suppose to be diferent the country that is fair and free.......the United States is suppose to be the role model of the the world.....the last superpower. Do you honestly think our government is setting an example by killing people? When we do this we are not standing out anymore were being like every other country. When there is the death penalty it embraces revenge and thats wrong. How does this great country of america look when it committs the act of revenge on its own people? So if someone murdered someone else and you put them in jail for life that would be the right thing to do, but kill them would make things worse because it would embrace revenge and the murders rates raise...the reason why i say this is because thats gives people the reason to kill someone else because they killed another person just because the government did it. The government doesn't understand that these killers have familys to and even though they do evil things it hurts a family more than the person when they get killed. If you put that person in jail and dont kill the murderer than things are even, that convict suffers in jail and the family get to see the convict and know he/she is still alive, both familys can now go about there business.Just imagine you have a son and he accidently killed someone and was convicted of murder and sentenced to death......would you want him to be killed or put in jail? What if thats your only son? Even though he did an evil and wrong thing would you want him to pay the price in jail or die? This is the way most people think when they have children that are put on the death row. People who have children that are on the death row go through more than the victims family because they have to live knnowing there child is either going to be killed or put in jail for life.they have to live knowing that all that work they put in trying to raise a good and possibly important person has now went to waste because there childs now a loser and muderer and they have to live with that. there teaching has now went down the drain and they failed a life.everyone hates there child and they know it......Do you honestly think they want this?

Mr. Monahan
Q: Do you support the death penalty?
A: " No...its unexceptible that the state would murder innocent people."

Jasmine
Q: Do you think we should have the death penalty?
A: "No...why would you kill people when you could put them in jail!!! they already have no life in jail why would you kill someone?....its dumb as hell."

New Haven Register

Although I don't read the newspaper, Mr. Monahan has brought to my attention that the New Haven Register is closing its Long Wharf facility and looking to relocate and restructure its newsroom to an "open" office combination coffee shop. I feel that this will be alot to manage.

The New Face Of The Newhaven Register

I think that it's completely stupid and retarded that they are relocating to an open "office" combination coffee shop. I really don't care about the newspaper because I don't read it. I a little confused about this newsroom where there can be an audience.....What is a open audience newsroom and how are they going to do this. I dont think its a good idea that they allow people to contribute to the newspaper just because of the fact that people lie and blow things out of proportion because of the need of publicity. So I think this new path they are taking is bad and its not putting themselves forward but backwards.
